3) Generate Data and Service Metadata

The document Technical Guidance for the implementation of INSPIRE dataset and service metadata based on ISO/TS 19139:2007 (V 2.0) describes the technical requirements of Regulations 1205/2008 and 1089/2010 in regard to metadata for spatial datasets, series, and services. Metadata can be created with GeoNetwork from version 3.8.2 or directly in XML from a metadata file.

To publish in the INSPIRE catalogue, it is important that all resource metadata is preloaded into the CODSI.

Following the withdrawal of the central instance of the INSPIRE Reference Validator on 1 April 2026, it is recommended to implement a dedicated instance of the validator. The National Centre for Geographic Information (O.A. Centro Nacional de Información Geográfica) has implemented the tool, which is accessible only through RedSARA: http://validador.idee.es/.
