COSMO-IDEE

Cosmo-IDEE is a collaborative project between public institutions that aims to jointly develop and maintain interoperable open-source applications oriented toward the comprehensive management of geospatial information on the web, pooling efforts, avoiding duplication, and fostering new ideas and approaches. This increases efficiency by reducing timeframes while also lowering costs through shared resources and efforts.

The development of Cosmo-IDEE does not depend on a single organization, but on a collaborative model coordinated through the Technical Working Group “Desarrollos IDEE”, within CODIIGE.

It currently involves the participation of different national, regional, and supramunicipal nodes:

  • National Geographic Institute / National Geographic Information Centre (IGN/CNIG)
  • Government of Andalusia (JdA)
  • Government of Extremadura (IDEEX)
  • Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB)
  • City Council of Cáceres (AytoCC)

The different administrations work in a coordinated way to define development lines, establish common technical criteria, and ensure interoperability of solutions. This model is based on open governance, aligned with the principles of free software and institutional cooperation.

Components of Cosmo-IDEE

API IDEE

A web map viewer development platform based on open technologies such as OpenLayers and CesiumJS. Its goal is to provide a common, flexible, and extensible solution for visualizing geospatial information in web environments.

DATA IDEE

DATA IDEE

A tool for working with data stored in proprietary databases, enabling the publication, editing, and maintenance of geographic layers.

It acts as a server providing read, insert, update, and delete operations on geographic features, as well as on layers and tables from different data sources, through OpenAPI-based endpoints.

The system is composed of a server-side and a client-side component.

SUITE IDEE

SUITE IDEE

A solution that facilitates the creation and management of viewers using API IDEE, accessible to both technical and non-technical users. This module allows users to generate viewers through assistants, helping non-developers configure the different viewers they need.

IA IDEE

AI IDEE

The large amount of geospatial information generated by public administrations is not always easy to consult for users without technical GIS knowledge.

AI IDEE connects generative artificial intelligence with OGC-standard geoservices.

This makes it possible to turn existing geospatial infrastructure into a system that can be queried in natural language, without needing to know data structures or access protocols.

GEOCODER-IDEE/SCNE

A geocoding service based on official sources and integrable into any application in the ecosystem. It includes normalization services, forward and reverse geocoding, predictive search, bulk geocoding, result filtering, and access control for usage statistics.
